Gender stereotype is a fixed view to the difference between male and female about their attributes, behavior, personality characteristics or other aspects.Gender stereotypes are common, for most people think that women perform worse in terms of space reasoning, mathematics, sports and even career success than men.Gender stereotype threat is the fact that abilities of women are harmed when they perceived the existence of such a gender stereotype. For example, the studies shows that gender difference in spatial ability is an important reason of underrepresent of women in fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, etc.,and gender stereotypes are the major social factor that responsible to women's spatial ability being worse than men. Many researchers have put forward the theory of mechanisms of stereotyped threaten effect, such as activating gender stereotyped threats that could cause anxiety, worrying about judge, and work memory occupancy. But the impact of gender stereotypes on women's performance has not been fully discussed. In the past, the research on the stereotype thereat is mainly through the presence of a stereotype that shows a stereotyped impression of the subject. Some studies have found that stereotyped clues that are not perceived by consciousness also lead to stereotyped threatening effects that indicate that gender stereotyped threatening effects do not necessarily require conscious participation. There are also studies in the country that gender stereotypes and gender recognition levels are relevant to women's math abilities, suggesting that gender stereotypes held by women are likely to be different from previous studies on stereotyped threats Ability to bring influence.Based on above researches, the current study takes the students' space-gender stereotype as a breakthrough point, using the psychological rotation task to refer the spatial ability, examined the influence of the gender stereotype on the spatial ability, the relationship between the gender stereotype and the spatial ability,And discuss the mechanism and interaction of these two effects by analyzing the regulatory effect between the two.The results of this study are as follows:(1)Gender stereotype threat impeded women's spatial capabilities;(2)Women generally have a strong gender-space stereotypes;(3)Women's implicit stereotype can predict their spatial ability, the more rigid stereotype they hold, the more impeding of ability they suffered.(4)Stereotype thereat has certain regulation effect on gender stereotype affecting the mental rotation task.In the absence of a blatant clue, the implicit gender stereotype and mental rotation are significantly related, but there is no correlation between them as soon as the blatant cue appears.
