Schumann Piano Divertimento <Butterfly> Music Language Research

The 100 years during 20 th was the romantic time in the western music history when there was big development in the piano.Many composers developed novel kinds of the piano during this time,such as the piano duet,the piano divertimento.While there was a famous man named Schumann who created the piano divertimento and numerous works related with music.It led the musician and made big effect on the music world.Robert Schumann was the one of the most representative musicians in that time.The works had romance feature in that era,and the works was combined with the literature,which was Schumann's novel thoughts.And it was worthy to understand his innovation.He created such many works with different styles in his short lifetime,especially in his piano work.His creation in the piano was brilliant and the music was sound and melodious.In his music,listeners could understand the roles' character deeply.With the varied harmony and rhythm,and the shift between the mode and tonality,the works told listeners stories vividly.What's more,listeners could feel immersive,and enjoyed the music feast.He not inherited the thoughts form the senior musician for creation the piano duets,but developed the novel piano divertimento on the basis of the combination with his idea.“Butterfly”,as Schumann' early work,was finished in 1931.In this work,the literary characteristics and his personality were united.Therefore,in this study,considering the time,and the human context,we studied the human characters,the melody,the changeable harmony,the rhythm,and others in this work.And in this work,we studied the music language feature and the integration of the music and literature.Meanwhile,we appreciated the special charm in the work.The study analyzed “Butterfly” in four parts.In the first chapter,Schumann' lifetime was known form his birth,to his growth,to his death couple with his dual personalities,and his advanced thoughts in music.His life for music was introduced briefly.In the second,the background and the structure of “Butterfly”was analyzed.In the third,as the main part,this work was understood in different aspects including the rhythm,harmony,melody,mode and tonalityt,and texture Pattern.The work,“Butterfly”,was appreciated in five fields to comprehend the music language characters.Furthermore,the last one could analyze theaesthetics and the playing-teaching value in this work.
