Yang Jiang is a scholar of great attainments in fiction,drama,translation and prose,which is also known by the public.With the publication and popularity of Wo Men Sa,Yang Jiang has been known as a wife and mother.Language in Wo Men Sa is plain and terse,while emotion in it is sensitive and touching.It is not only a memoir of an intellectual family,but also an epitome of various common Chinese families.This report is based on the Chinese-English translation of Wo Men Sa(excerpt).It mainly discusses how to reproduce the language features and style of source text,and convey the writer's feelings and spirits.It is anticipated to help improve the translator's English-Chinese translation ability and ability of dealing with cultural differences during English-Chinese translation.Besides,the original words implies Yang Jiang's philosophy of life which is indifferent to fame and wealth,positive and open-minded.Appreciating and learning these qualities are also important.In this report,the translator first makes an analysis of the source text from the perspective of language features and style.As for the language features,vocabulary,sentence structure and rhetorical aspects are discussed.In the analysis of style feature,it mainly discusses two issues that are closely related to literary translation:literary style and translatability of style.Besides,this section also introduces Liu Miqing's style translation theory and translation methodology.With the above analysis of language features,examples will be given on how the translator reproduce them in the target text.To make it more clear,translation methods such as conversing,interpretating,adding,omitting and repeating will be used.At last,it summarizes the whole translation process,including the shortcomings of the target text and what the translator have learned.
