Experiment 1: Investigation on mental health status and musical preferences of Medical PostgraduatesObjective: We aim to examine the mental health status and musical activities and preferences of the medical postgraduates from Dalian Medical University.The result was used for further research in experiment 2.Methods: 585 medical postgraduate students of Dalian Medical University was recruited as subjects,and the inventory for musical activity and preference was used.Symptom Checklist 90(SCL-90)was employed to assess the mental health status of subjects.The results were analied by frequency statistics,simple t test,independent sample t test and ANOVA.With p<0.05 for the difference was statistically significant.Result:1.The mental health status of medical postgraduate students:Compared with the national norm,the scores of the medical postgraduate are significantly higher on somatization(t=2.596,p<0.05),compulsion(t=11.440,p<0.01),depression(t=5.273,p<0.01),anxiety(t=7.040,p<0.01),hostility(t=2.622,p<0.01),terrorist(t=8.415,p<0.01),paranoid(t=3.510,p<0.01),psychosis(t=8.316,p<0.01)and total score(t=6.389,p<0.01).It had no significant difference of interpersonal sensitivity(t=1.747,p>0.05).In this study,it could be selected which the total score higher than 160.165 peoplewas selected,accounting for 28.2% of the total.It could be selected which any factor greater than 2.The factors were compulsion(44.4%),interpersonal sensitivity(29.6%),depression(26.7%),hostility(21.2%),other(21.0%),anxiety(20.5%),paranoid(20.2%),psychosis(16.2%),terrorist(15.4%)and somatization(14.4%)according to the order from high to low.The male's interpersonal sensitivity(t=2.054,p<2.054),paranoid(t=2.207,p<0.05),psychoticism(t=2.180,p<2.180)and other(t=2.289,p<0.05)scores were significantly higher than women's scores.It had no significant difference(t1-7=0.066/0.160/0.136/0.180/0.209/0.063/0.129,p1-7>0.05)of mental health total score,somatization,compulsion,depression,anxiety,hostility,terrorist.2.The results of music preferences:The number of people who loved music(the most love and the love)occupied75.8%.The number of people who not love music only took up1%.The number of people who eased the mood by listening music occupied 50.9%.The other only occupied 49.1%.69.6% of students thinked that music could help to ease the emotion.while only 3.3% students thinked that it was useless.The number of people who selected the music which similar to their mood took up 79%.Only 7.0% people choiced the music of oppositing their mood.The number of people who had music preference occupied 80.9%.The number of people who loved popular music took up62.6%.Conclusion:1.The mental health problem of the medical postgraduate is worse than the national norm.It contained somatization,compulsion,depression,anxiety,hostility,terrorist,paranoid,psychosis and total score.In this study,the number of medical graduates who had mental health problems is28.2%.The factors were compulsion,interpersonal sensitivity,depression,hostility,other,anxiety,paranoid,psychosis,terrorist and somatization according to the order from high to low.2.In this study,the number of people who loved music and eased the mood by listening music had high rate.Half of people think that music had a good effect.When choosing music,the people more likely to choose the music which similar to their mood.Most of the medical postgraduates more likely pop music.Experiment two: The experiment of the receptive music therapy on mental health of the female medical postgraduatesObjective: We aim to exploring the effect of the receptive music therapy on mental health of the female medical postgraduates.The result was used to looking for new technologies and methods to improve the mental health status of the female medical postgraduates.Methods: 33 female medical postgraduates with mental health problem was selected as subjects.They were divided into experimental group(15 people)and control group(18)randomly.The experimental group received 8 times music therapy about once a week,90 minutes everytime.And there was no treatment for the control group.The result was measured by SCL-90.And it was analied by independent sample t test,MANOVA of repeat measuring and correlation sample t test.With p<0.05 for the difference was statistically significant.Result:1.Before the intervention,there was no significant difference(t1-11=0.763/0.492/0.233/0.745/0.967/1.353/1.081/0.962/0.033/0.284/0.440,p1-11>0.05)of the experimental group and control group in the SCL-90 scale total score and each factor scores.2.There was significant interactions in the SCL-90 scale total score(F=12.986,p<0.01)and the interpersonal sensitivity(F=4.187,p<4.187)and depression(F=25.428,p<25.428),anxiety(F=10.696,p<0.01).After the post hoc test,there was significant difference in SCL-90 scale total score(t=6.172,p<0.01),the interpersonal sensitivity(t=2.679,p<2.679)and depression(t=8.136,p<8.136)and anxiety(t=4.163,p<0.01)of the experimental group after the intervention.Whereas there was no significant difference in the control group.In addition,the experimental group mental health scores were lower than the control group in SCL-90 scale total score(t=4.318,p<0.01),the interpersonal sensitivity(t=3.315,p<3.315),depression(t=5.710,p<5.710)and anxiety(t=2.600,p<0.01)after the intervention.Conclusion: The receptive music therapy on the improvement of the female medical graduate student's mental health has a significant effect.It has significant effect on interpersonal sensitivity,depression,anxiety.
