The Study Of Chinese Matching Animal Idioms

Matching animal idiom refers to two animal words that contain animal meanings and the two animal words possess a sort of corresponding in structure or meaning.In form,the appearance of animal words for matching animal idioms are in pairs,change with the flexibility and order of words.And from the semantic point of view,the use of matching animal idioms with the common characteristics of the two animals makes the semantic expression is more powerful,the characteristics of human beings more distinctive and vivid.In the relatively closed scope,this article defines the concept and scope of the matching animal idioms and interprets the structure,meanwhile,probes into its semantics,which combine the knowledge of lexicology,cognitive linguistics and cultural linguistics from the national culture,metaphorical cognition and language factors on the generative mechanism of matching animal idiom.The study of matching animal idioms can not only expand the research field of lexicology,but also carry forward the traditional culture of the Chinese nation and it is of great significance to show the Chinese people's cognitive mode of thinking.This article is divided into four chapters,which analyzes the definition,structure,semantic meanings and generative mechanism of matching animal idioms.The first chapter is the preliminary cognition of matching animal idioms.The author defines the concept and scope of matching animal idioms,specify the judging criteria for matching animal idioms which give a brief description of the characteristics of universality and particularity of matching animal idioms.In the second chapter,the author analyzes the structure of matching animal idioms.The matching animal idioms are composed of two animal words A,B,and two non-animal words X,Y,which has six kind of structure format that is AXBY,XAYB,ABXY,XYAB,AXYB and XABY.Each structure format is represented by the corresponding grammatical structure and grammatical form.The third and the fourth chapter are the focus of this article.The third chapter is the analysis of the semantic meaning of matching animal idioms.When analyzing the semantics of this kind of idioms,the author not only considers the semantics of the components from the perspective of combination and aggregation,but also pays attention to the whole meaning.From the point of view of combination,thesemantics of matching animal idioms follow three rules: objectivity,selectivity and sequence.From the point of view of aggregation,the matching animal idioms are involved in the integration of animal words and non animal words.From the perspective of the whole meaning of idioms,the performance of matching animal idioms mostly possess deep meaning,which has color and culture significance.The fourth chapter is about the exploration of the origin of matching animal idioms.The production of matching animal idioms is the result of the combination of the internal and external factors of language,and the internal factors of language explain the existence of the variation of matching animal idioms.The external factors of language are the mechanism of national culture and the metaphorical cognition.These factors determine the semantics and structure of matching animal idioms.
