Chinese idioms bear the accumulation of Chinese culture for thousands of years,and have rich cultural connotations.Learning idioms can not only expand the vocabulary of Chinese students,but also help them to understand and learn colorful Chinese cultural knowledge.The number of Chinese idioms is numerous,and an analysis of one of them is helpful to the research.This paper selects Chinese animal idioms as the breakthrough point,on the one hand is because Chinese animal idioms have a total of more than 500,have a larger research space;on the other hand,the majority of animal idioms involved in animal is widespread in various countries and regions around the world,it is only that different cultures may have different preferences for them,and the cultural meaning of animal words may vary,thus affecting the understanding and mastering of Chinese animal idioms correctly meaning and use of students.The subjects of this study are Central Asia,Mongolia,and Southeast Asian students,the main research methods are questionnaire survey and interview,from the three aspects of animal names,the cultural connotation of animal words,the emotional and metaphorical meanings of Animal Idioms to understand the cognition of overseas students to Chinese animal idioms.It also probes into the factors affecting the correct understanding of the meaning of Chinese animal idioms by the students,and then puts forward some suggestions for the teaching of Chinese idioms.The first chapter is the introduction,which introduces the origin of the research,the purpose of the study and the content of the research,the method and the significance of the research.The second chapter is an overview of animal idioms,summarizes the 521 animal idioms,to define the single animal imagery and the two animal images of animal idioms,analysis between two animal imagery meaning relationship;and analyses the metaphorical types of animal idioms,from two aspects of animal mapping and mapping cultural background,in order to understand the meaning of the unique cultural connotation of animal idioms.The third chapter is the summary of research on animal idioms in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.This chapter carries out a detailed literature investigation and discussion from three aspects:the study of language culture,the comparison of the language meaning and the teaching strategy of the Chinese and foreign languages.To understand the study of the Chinese teaching of Chinese as a foreign language on Animal Idioms from ancient times to the present,in order to determine the direction of the research.The fourth chapter is the investigation and analysis of the cognition of the Chinese animal names of the foreign students,introduce the object of investigation and the method of investigation.It divides the names of animal names into four categories:the common words in life,the outline of Chinese vocabularies,the vocabularies commonly used in nature,and the words in myths and legends.Through the questionnaire survey of foreign students,it was found that the cognitive level and the vocabulary difficulty had a positive correlation.The fifth chapter is the investigation and analysis of the cognition of the cultural connotation of the Chinese animal words of the foreign students,to introduce the cultural meaning of Chinese animal words.It investigates the cultural connotation of the animal words in different countries through questionnaires,to further analyze the reasons for the inaccurate understanding of the cultural connotation of the Chinese animal words and expressions.The sixth chapter is the investigation and analysis of the emotional and metaphorical cognition of the Chinese animal idioms of the foreign students,introduce the animal idioms with commendatory,derogatory,neutral color of three kinds of feelingsThis chapter investigates the cognition of the foreign students on the emotional and metaphorical meanings of the 15 animal idioms through a questionnaire,and it combines the cognition of the animal name words and the cognition of the meaning in the culture,to analyze the reasons for the different cognitive degree of the 15 animal idioms and explore the internal relations between the three.The seventh chapter is thinking and suggestion based on the investigation,through the reflection on the results of the three questionnaires,it puts forward teaching suggestions respectively for teaching introduction,interpretation and practice.
