A Report On The Translation Of The Cambridge Companion To Fantasy Literature (Chapter 5)

This is a report on translation project.The source text is selected from The Cambridge To Fantasy Literature,chapter five,Tolkien,Lewis and the explosion of genre fantasy.Its main contents include the introduction of the two most important figures in fantasy fiction in 20 th century,Tolkien and Lewis,about their contribution to the fantasy fiction field,their renowned works,their main thoughts about fantasy fiction,etc.Besides,this chapter also contains the development of fantasy fiction after these two people.There are four parts in this report,the first part is the introduction of the whole report,including its background,significance and structure.The second part is the introduction of the source text,including its author,its main contents and the theoretical basis.The third part is the list of the difficulties the author meets in the process of translation and the methods he use in the translation project.The difficulties include the lack of background information of the works appear in the source text,the understanding of the different semantic meaning of plain words and the long and complicated sentences.The final part is the summary of the whole report,including the experience from this report and problems to be solved.
