A Report On The Translation Of Children's Fantasy Literature:An Introduction(Introduction And Chapter?)

This is a translation project report on Children's Fantasy Literature: An Introduction by Michael Levy and Farah Jane Mendlesohn,whose Introduction and Chapter I “How Fantasy Became Children's Literature” is the source text.The source text introduces the aim and structure of the whole book,and how fantasy becomes children's literature,which offers the most fundamental knowledge about the book and the origin of children's fantasy.There are five chapters in the report.Chapter One introduces the background and significance of the project,and the structure of the report.Chapter Two is the analysis of the source text,including an introduction to the authors,its main contents and some language features.Chapter Three is the theoretic framework.There are various types of texts in the source text,and multi-level equivalence should be achieved,so functional equivalence theory is employed here.Chapter Four is about translation difficulties,such as argumentative sentences,historical facts and literary examples,and corresponding solutions involving translation methods such as literal translation and thick translation,and translation skills such as syntactic linearity,restructuring,division and combination.Chapter Five concludes the experience and the problems yet to be solved.
