Cognitive Dialogic Syntax Analysis Of Conflict Talk In Love Battle

As a common social cultural phenomenon,conflict talk widely exists in interpersonal communication.Questions such as what causes conflict and how to resolve conflict have grabbed researchers' attention.Researchers at home and abroad analyze structural features,language means or strategies and pragmatic rationales of conflict talk from the viewpoint of conversation analysis,pragmatics and sociolinguistics.Nonetheless,few scholars investigate conflict talk from the perspective of cognitive dialogic syntax.Conflict talk between lovers or couples in the emotional program Love Battle is also less explored from this perspective.Accordingly,the thesis,based on cognitive dialogic syntax,examines the structural,semantic and pragmatic features of conflict talk in emotional program Love Battle broadcast in 2015,among which 254 exchanges involving formal resonance are chosen for analysis.What's more,under the framework of blending theory,resonance in dialogic syntax and salience,a new model,termed as BRS model,is integrated in order to illustrate the cognitive motivation for conflict talk in Love Battle.Through detailed analysis of the data,the findings of the thesis are as follows:first and foremost,interlocutors in conflict talk tend to convey conflicting meaning by means of formal resonance;secondly,interlocutors in conflict talk tries to achieve communicative purposes such as retort,criticism through formal resonance.The significance of the thesis is as follows: firstly,it is the first time to explore conflict talk from the perspective of cognitive dialogic syntax and to build a new BRS model with the aim to demonstrate the cognitive motivation for conflict talk;besides,it is the first attempt to focus on exchanges with formal resonance in the emotional program Love Battle so as to help people better understand reasons of conflict and resolve conflict;last but not least,the thesis is instructive in avoiding conflict in natural conversation.
