A Report On The Translation Of The Future Of The Professions: How Technology Will Transform The Work Of Human Experts(Chapter 4)

This is a project report on the translation of Chapter 4 of “The Future of the Professions: How Technology Will Transform the Work of Human Experts” written by Richard Susskind,a British author,speaker,and independent adviser.The book generally discusses the future of professions.This report is divided into five chapters.Chapter 1 gives a brief introduction to the translation project,including project background,values and structure of the report.Chapter 2 is an introduction to the book's author and analysis of the source text,including publication information,the main content of the source text,analysis of text type and language features of the source text.Since the source text is an informative text,communicative translation theory is adopted in the translation process.Chapter 3 gives a detailed description of communicative translation theory.Followed by its guidance to this translation project,Chapter 4 points out the difficulties encountered in the translation process and corresponding solutions.The difficulties lie in the translation of specialized IT terminology,proper nouns and complex sentences.The methods include amplification,conversion and division.Chapter 5 is the conclusion,which summarizes the lessons learned from the translation process and the problems remain to be solved.
