The interpreting discipline developed prosperously in the past decade in China, increasing number of people have been receiving interpreting training. The note-taking language choice is a subjectconfusing interpreting learners, student interpreters and interpreting teachers.Although there are large amount number of related researches on this topic, problems or weakness of different kinds exist, including: only covering one languagedirection(Chinese-to-English or English-to-Chinese),not representative experiment participatesof English major undergraduates and so on.This dissertation, based on Daniel Gile's efforts model, aims to analyze the note language-fidelity correlation in CE and EC consecutive interpretingof the second-year MTI students from Sichuan International Studies University by empirical studies through quantitative and qualitative analysis methods. The experiment finds that in both CE and EC CI,Chinese notes has positive correlation with fidelity,so as to the total amount of notes;while English ones has negative one.Through linear regression analysis, the difference on correlation indexes are found: Chinese notes,English notes and total notes amount have relatively obvious correlation with fidelity in EC CI with correlation index more than 0.2,while in CE CI,only the index of English notes-fidelity is more than 0.2.After quality analysis with 11 cases studied, complimentary explanations to the results are given. This dissertation has to admit that the factors influence interpreting output fidelity are complex and note language is not the causal one.But the implications of this paper is that effective borrowing of Chinese language as CI notes can reduce note-taking and note-reading efforts in the two phases of CI.And English notes should have fixed and limited amount of meaning(s)to avoid notes reading and recalling difficulties.
