In the late 1990 s,the conceptual tools of “field”,“capital” and “habitus” in the framework of Bourdieu's sociological theory have provided a completely new sociological perspective for translation studies.Sociological translation studies develop by virtue of the above concepts to analyze the impact of social factors on the translation practice(including concrete translation choices, such as the choice of the original text and the choice of translation technologies),dissemination and acceptance.Ken Liu,an oversea Chinese,is talented both in creation and translation of sci-fi and has been becoming more and more popular in the western sci-fi world. In 2015,Ken Liu has accompanied Liu Cixin to achieve Hugo Prize by virtue of The Three Body Problem.Based on the sociology of Bourdieu, this thesis tries to reconstruct the translation field, the literary field and the power field involved in Ken Liu's translation practice and explore the influence of the involved fields and a variety of variables acting in the translation field, such as the symbolic capital of the source text, the source author, the publishing house, etc.on the translation choices externalized from the inner habitus of Ken Liu with tracking his life trajectories and evaluation marks, such as the interviews on him and his blogs.
