From the perspective of Bourdieu’s theories, this thesis, through the participant observation and interviews, analyzed the changes of capital and habitus of interpreting learners. This research found that solid English competency, clear self-orientation, freedom of choice, and continuous efforts were indispensable capital and habitus to become an interpreting learner. In the field of GSTI, the capital and habitus of learners would be reconstructed. Specifically, learners would obtain practice opportunities, comprehensive background knowledge of various topics, self-learning ability, research competency, flexibility, and increased stress tolerance. This thesis held that the abilities interpreting learners acquired are transferable ones, which could help to accomplish working tasks in the future, be it interpreting or not. Also, the two-year training in GSTI was also a process to discover the learners themselves. During this process, they could know more clearly about their capital and habitus portfolio. The significance of this process was beyond that of the abilities and knowledge acquired. Such a process would also help to better utilize their capital and adapt to new fields in the future.
