Practice Report On Simulated Interpreting Of BBC Documentary Chinese School

In 2015,BBC produced a documentary Are Our Kid Tough Enough?Chinese School!,which aroused a lot of attention.In order to explore better teaching methods,the UK set up an Chinese Class to compare the education method differences between Chinese and the UK through the performance of Chinese teachers and foreign students in the classroom.Due to the differences in culture and education level,British documentary can not be widely known in China.Therefore,it needs an interpreter to interpret the documentary and eliminate the language barrier to promote culture communication.Because of its authenticity and concision this documentary is selected as the material.Therefore,adopting the case analysis method,the author analyzes the interpreting method used in the process of interpreting and provide some suggestions for others.Based on The Theory of Sense,this practice report is divided into five parts:The report starts from the selection of interpreting material and the reason of creating this practice report.The following parts is the interpreting material description.In this part,the author introduces the current education situation and the difference between Chinese education and British education,the basic content of the interpreting material and the meaning of selecting the material.The third chapter is the preparation before interpreting.In this chapter,the language characteristics of documentary and the strategies will be discussed.The fourth chapter is the report of interpreting practice.In this section,The Theory of Senses and the interpreting standard of this theory will be introduced.Secondly the author analyzes the process of interpreting.The fifth chapter is the summary.The problems and some suggestions will be provided for others.The author hope that through the practice,the author can be more skilled in using interpreting strategies,and improve the level of own interpretation.
