The Practice Report On E-C Consecutive Interpretation Of Stand-up Comedy From The Perspective Of Theory Of Sense

With the promotion of globalization,the access to information resources becomes wider and the contact between different languages becomes more frequent.As an intermediate of language communication,interpretation is of great meaning to cross-culture communication.In China,learning English has become a popular trend.Many English learners turn to online resources for daily practices,among which stand-up comedy is one of their favorite choices.The farewell show "Hannah Gadsby:Nanette",given by famous Australian comedian Hannah Gadsby in Sydney Opera House,bears strong practical value and high educational meaning.The content involves her personal experience,reflection on social identity and so on.All the pains and wounds she suffered are presented in a comedy way.Theory of Sense,invented in France,is the first systemic interpretation theory in the world.It requires interpreters to convey the equal meaning and significance of source language,based on their linguistic knowledge and related information.According to the Theory of Sense,there are three stages in translation,respectively comprehension,de-verbalization and re-formulation.On this basis,the author categorizes the problems’ in three parts,namely comprehension,note-taking and expression.These problems,like inadequate preparation,occur in three phases,pre-interpreting phase,interpreting phase and post-interpreting phase.With the help of the Theory of Sense,the author explores some feasible approaches,like omission and generalization.In analysis,the author draws following conclusions:when interpreting specific text,theinterpreter should focus on the cultural features of the text.The stand-up comedy emphasizes on the oral expression,thus,the interpreter should cater to this need,trying to achieve equal effects in source language.The objective of this report is to conclude experience and limitations in this interpretation simulation.Through this practice report,the author hopes to provide some guidance for interpretation practice of stand-up comedy and share some inspirations for interpreters specialized in this area.
