Under this circumstance, the interpreter has an added responsibility of cultural transmission and the study of translation explores a new field of endeavor. In this paper, the author is going to analyze the way of documentary interpretation. On the one hand, as a cultural transmitter, an interpreter is required to properly expose all relevant information and rightly keep the expressive mood and pace similar to the original one. On the other hand, until now, the community hasn’t paid more attention to studies on interpretation of the Chinese historical documentary. Under this circumstance, it’s indispensable for English learners to put more efforts on this field of endeavor and to acquire techniques and experience back from large amount of practice. This paper, based on Paris interpretation theory, takes the first part of CCTV documentary "Rise and fall of the empire" as an example to make research on for applicable strategies used in the interpretation of Chinese historical documentary. Furthermore, through studies, the author has discovered that in such type of interpretation, an interpreter usually resorts to the following four strategies to maintain "equal sense" in translation: the ideas of background knowledge, logical process of information, explanation of words or phrases with particular cultural senses and the next prediction according to the previous information. And the last but not least, the author hopes that for learners of interpretation, those four strategies can really help them to make progress in the future and can facilitate them to fulfill interpretation with much better effect.
