The language of legal documents is normative, authoritative and rigorous. The translation of legal documents, especially the translation of prescriptive legal documents such as laws and regulations, treaties and international conventions, requires a high degree of professionalism and standardization. To improve the standardization of the translation of legal documents is the premise of improving the quality of the translation and reducing unnecessary legal disputes. Some domestic scholars have mentioned the principle of standardization in translation of legal documents, but they didn't elaborate on the specific implementation strategies on standardization.Based on the Convention on Jurisdiction and the Recognition and Enforcement of Judgments in Civil and Commercial Matters(2007 Lugano Convention),a convention in the field of private international law,the thesis classifies the translation text and tries to summarize the concrete methods on standardization of the translation of legal documents. The methods to standardize the translation of words can be classified into five categories:determining the meaning of common words, distinguishing the similarities and differences between pairs of synonyms, referring to legal idiomatic expressions, seeking equivalent words based on the context and defining the connotation of vague words. The methods to standardize the translation of sentences can be classified into three categories:following the stylized language structure, adjusting the word order of conditional adverbial clauses and adjusting the word order of parenthesis. The author hopes that the above eight methods may provide some reference value to improve the translation of legal documents.
