A Study On The Vocabulary Of Vernacular Translation In Xiu Xiang Xiao Shuo (??????)

This paper has conducted systematical research on the vocabulary of vernacular translation in Xiu Xiang Xiao Shuo(??????).It mainly discusses three aspects,including diachronic development of monosyllabic words,relationship between forms and meaning of disyllabic words,redundancy of polyphonic words.This paper is divided into five parts,including preface,three chapters and conclusion.To be specific,each part is as follows:The first part is preface,which briefly introduces the purpose and the significance of my research.Also,the scope of the corpus,research methods and research status is summarized.The second chapter discusses the monosyllabic words,especially focusing on the Polyphony of monosyllabic words and evolution of word forms and meaning.The third chapter probes into the disyllabic words,for one thing,from the synchronic perspective,we analyze the characteristics of synonymous compound words;for another,from the diachronic perspective,compared with modern Chinese,we discuss the profiled words and homograph.The profiled words cover two categories:one morpheme is identical and the other is different in form;two morphemes is different in order.The homograph consists of three categories: the meaning is completely different;the meaning has overlapping;the meaning owns contrary color.The fourth chapter analyzes redundancy of polyphonic words.Redundancy means a morpheme has no meaning or two synonymous morpheme reuse.The conclusion of this paper is a systematic summary,and also points out some deficiencies.
