Procrastination is a complex psychological problem, different types of procrastination have different psychological roots, and it will produce different outcomes and can not be generalized. Most of the previous studies focused on the traditional sense of the negative procrastination, that is,passive procrastination. And these studies have made fruitful results. In recent years, researchers have began to pay attention to the positive side of the procrastination.Chu and Choi first proposed the concept of active procrastination in 2005,arguing that active procrastination was,to some extent, adaptive and would not generate negative consequences. The current study used Chu and Choi's classification to divide the procrastination into active procrastination and passive procrastination, and discuss the influence of the regulatory modes on procrastination and the mediating effect of time management disposition. In the current study,383 college undergraduates and graduate students were selected as the research object.Through the questionnaire survey, the following conclusions were drawn:(1)The overall pattern of college students' locomotion mode was high, and the assessment mode was medium level.72%of the individuals were dominated by the locomotion mode.Nearly 60%of the individuals had a certain degree of procrastination behavior.(2)The scores of male subjects were significantly higher than those of female subjects in the assessment mode, active procrastination and preference for pressure. The preference for pressure of graduate students was significantly higher than that of undergraduates. The interaction between gender and grade was significant in passive delay. The passive procrastination of the male was higher than that of the female in undergraduates, and opposite outcomes occurred in graduates.(3)The locomotion mode was negatively correlated with the passive procrastination significantly, and it was a significant predictor of passive procrastination. And locomotion mode was positively correlated with active procrastination and it was a significant predictor of active procrastination.Assessment mode was significantly and negatively correlated with passive procrastination, and it could also positively predict passive procrastination. But the correlate relationship between assessment mode and active procrastination was not significant.(4)Time management disposition and its three dimensions were negatively and significantly correlated with passive procrastination, and all of them can significantly predict passive procrastination.Time supervision and time efficacy were positively correlated with active procrastination and significantly predict active procrastination.Among them, time efficacy was the most powerful predictor of passive and active procrastination.(5)Time management disposition had partial mediation effect between locomotion mode and passive procrastination?active procrastination. And its mediation effect between assessment mode and passive procrastination was not significant.
