Moral decision making is an important part of sports moral research. The study shows that emotions, emotion regulation strategies and value orientation have a significant impact on moral decision making, but there is lack of the research about the relationship between them. Therefore, this study combined with the questionnaire survey, experiment method by questionnaire survey, behavioral experiment and physiological monitoring through three experiments to examine the influence of emotions and emotion regulation strategies on moral decision making and physiological responses of basketball players with different value orientation.Research provides scientific reference and empirical basis for athlete' sports moral education and moral code of conduct.Pre-study1 was to test the validity of the emotion video.Participants were 30 basketball athletes.Emotional self-report and heart rate variance show that the effect of emotional induced material is better.Pre-study2 was to test the applicability of The Vertical-horizontal Individualism and Collectivism Questionnaire.448 athletes took part in this study. The result shows that the questionnaire has good applicability in the athletes' group.Study mainly includes three experiments:Experiment 1: Each of 72 basketball players and 75 ordinary college students were selected to have individualist and collectivist value-oriented of 40 participants, totally 80 subjects participated in this experiment, explores the influence of different emotions on moral decision making of basketball athletes and college students in the classic situation.Result shows that: The effect of emotion and value orientation on moral decision making in the classic situation is not affected by the type of subjects. That is,the moral decision makings are the same of both basketball athletes and college students in the trolley situation: the tendency of individualist value-oriented participants tend to utilitarian moral decision making is higher than collectivist; The moral decision makings are the same of both basketball athletes and college students in the bridge situation: the tendency of collectivist value-oriented participants tend tonon-utilitarian moral decision making is higher than individualist. The participants' utilitarian tendency under happy emotional state is higher than under angry emotional state, and the participants' non-utilitarian tendency under angry emotional state is higher than that under happy emotional state. The rate of athletes' heart rate under happy or angry emotional states is higher than that under calm state. The rate of athletes' heart rate after moral decision making is higher than that under calm state.Experiment 2: From 72 basketball players selected each 20 participants with individualist and collectivist value-oriented,totally 40 subjects participated in this experiment, explores the influence of different emotions on moral decision making of basketball players with different value orientation in sports situation.Result shows that: In the false injury situation, the tendency of individualist value-oriented participants tend to utilitarian moral decision making is higher than collectivist; In the push situation, individualist and collectivist orientation athletes tend to non-utilitarian moral decision making. The athletes of individualist orientation under the happy emotional state are more inclined to utilitarian moral decision making compared with those under the anger emotional state. In the happy emotional state, the individualist orientation athletes tend to utilitarian moral decision in the false injury situation while the collectivist orientation athletes tend to make non-utilitarian moral decision making in the false injury and push situation. In the angry emotional state, the individualist and collectivist orientation athletes tend to non-utilitarian moral decision making in the false injury and push situation. The rate of athletes' heart rate under happy or angry emotional states is higher than that under calm state. The rate of athletes' heart rate after moral decision making is higher than that under calm state.Experiment 3: From 139 basketball players selected each 40 participants with individualist and collectivist value-oriented,totally 80 subjects participated in this experiment, explores the influence of different emotion regulation strategies on moral decision making of basketball players with different value orientation in the sports situation under different emotional states.Result shows that: In the happy and angry emotional states, compared with the players using the cognitive reappraisal strategy, the athletes who use the express suppression strategy have significantly enhanced theintensity of the utilitarian moral decision making tendency in the false injury situation. In the angry emotional state, the athletes who use the cognitive reappraisal strategy reinforced the strength of non-utilitarian moral decision making tendencies more significantly than the athletes using express suppression strategy in the push situation. In the push situation, the athletes who use the express suppression strategy tend to make non-utilitarian moral decision making under happy emotional state, and make utilitarian moral decision making under angry emotional state. The use of express suppression strategies reduced the physical response of the basketball players more than cognitive reappraisal strategies. The use of express suppression strategies enhanced the moral decision making physical response of the basketball players more than cognitive reappraisal strategies. The conclusions are as follows:(1)There is no significant difference between basketball athletes and college students in the classic situation. This suggests that the level of moral development and decision-making tendencies are the same of both basketball athletes and college students.(2)The moral decision making of different value-oriented participants under different emotions are influenced by different moral situations. In the low conflict moral situation of trolley and false injury, individualist participants tend to utilitarian moral decision under the happy emotional state. In the high conflict moral situation of bridge and push, collectivist participants tend to non-utilitarian moral decision under the angry emotional state.(3)The moral decision making of different value-oriented participants are influenced by different emotional regulation strategies.Express suppression strategy encourages anger individuals to be more inclined to utilitarian moral decision making and cognitive reappraisal strategy encourages anger individuals to be more inclined to non-utilitarian moral decision making.
