This project report is based on the translation of three chapters extracted from Fuel for Life,which is written by a famous contemporary British writer Bear Grylls.The theme of this book is about life-saving food,healthy nutrition and scientific way of life.Based on the scientific facts,the book tells us Bear's exploration,diet experience and health knowledge.The author of this report chose to translate the book with a view to exhorting readers to adopt a scientific diet,say goodbye to sub-health,and have a strong body and mind.The reader can learn more about the Western understanding of nutrition and enjoy better health from this translation.Stylistically,this book can be classified into the category of practical texts and science encyclopedias.It is also a reference book concerning nutrition,featuring good organization and sound logic.In the process of translation,the author found that the text is flexible in sentence patterns,diverse in style and precise in diction.Therefore,the key to translating the book is not only to convey the original information accurately,but also to pay attention to the characteristics of the food culture in the source language.Consequently,the author of this report adopts Alexander F.Tytler's three principles of translation as a guidance.Considering the specific context,the author adopts some specific translation theories and methods such as conversion,addition,and adjustment of sentence structure in order to achieve the faithful and fluent translation and maximally approximate the writing style and the way of expression of the source language text.In the process of translating this book,the author learned more about western culture,western concept of food materials and nutrients,and developed a better understanding of Alexander F.Tytler's three principles of translation.
