The Translation Of Practical Management Texts From The Perspective Of Newmark’s Text Functional Theory

Leadership:Getting it done, written by Rex Campbell, a sociology professor at the university of Missouri introduces the principles of leadership and leaders as well as the qualities of leaders to readers.The thesis is based on the first4chapters of Leadership:Getting it done which is translated by the present author. In accordance with content, this book is regarded as the practical management text, while from the perspective of Newmark’s text functional theory, it can be defined as the informative text with vocative function. Guided by text functional theory, the author analyzes linguistic features, including lexical, syntactic and style characteristics of this text. Meanwhile, the dissertation provides specific analysis for the text from linguistic and cultural aspects, and mainly exempliflying the translation skills applied in translating words and sentences of practical management texts.
