A Report On Consecutive Interpreting For Foreign And Chinese Students' Visit To Novozymes Company

With the rapid development of economy and globalization,the exchange between different countries has become more and more frequent.Interpreting practice plays an important role in international communication and cooperation.The interpreting practice is an important way to promote this company for people from different countries.Novozymes Company has held an activity for foreign and Chinese student to visit this company on 5th August 2016.The author worked as an interpreter in this activity.The interpreting practice,in the form of consecutive interpreting,involved wide range of knowledge in the field of biology.The author selects two parts as objects of case analysis which are company introduction in the meeting room and the company visit.The author analyzes problems in the consecutive interpretation and discusses the corresponding improvements.The author analyzes the importance of background knowledge of this task at the beginning and focuses on the advance preparation.Through analyzing cases and combining with related theories,the report discusses the problems and solutions in the process of interpreting,which mainly includes analysis of notes,sentence interpreting,the interpreting of professional knowledge,disfluency of Chinese-English interpreting,errors of interpreting and pretermission.Since the interpreting involved a lot of information in the field of biology,the report substantially discusses the ways to deal with professional information.Through the case analysis,the report makes the following conclusions:Having a full advance preparation is a condition to have a interpreting fluently.Taking notes is so important.Mastering skills and choosing right words in the process of taking notes are the key points,which can ensure the high-quality interpreting.The interpreter uses interpretive theory to process professional knowledge.
