With the change and development of the society,the media has played a more and more important role and a variety of media neologisms and hot words have also been widely used in daily life.As the most sensitive language element to social development and change,media neologisms and hot words can directly reflect the rapid changes in all aspects of society,and they can be widely used in daily communication and all kinds of media.Media neologisms and hot words have wide range,fast spreading speed,and various creating methods;at the same time,it cannot be ignored in the process of culture interchange.Therefore,nowadays the translation criterion has become more and more serious.Up to now,many scholars have done a lot of research on the English translation of neologisms from a variety of perspectives.However,there are few studies on the translation of neologisms from the perspective of eco-translatology.The theoretical fulcrum of eco-translatology is adaptation and selection.In the process of translation,the translator occupies a central position and plays a leading role.The translator can not only achieve the "adaptation",but also deal with the "choice".That is to say,adaptation is the translator's selective adaptation while the selection is the translator's adaptive selection.The "selection and adaptation"principle refers to the translator's adaptation to the ecological environment of translation and translators' selection to adapt to the reader or the source text during the translating activities;The purpose of adaptation is to exist and take effect,while the means of adaptation is to optimize the choice;What's more,the translator might select translation strategies in the guidance of "language dimension","cultural dimension"and "communicative dimension" mentioned in the eco-translatology theory,then obtain a more accurate translation and adapt translation eco-environment better.Opinion might be held that the theory of eco-translatology put forward by a famous translation theorist Professor Hu Gengshen is suitable to guide the translation of media neologisms and hot words.Founded in 1981,China Daily is the most representative English newspaper in China.It is the first choice of Chinese English media at home and abroad.Meanwhile,China Daily is the only newspaper in China that can effectively enter into the international mainstream society,and it has held more large-scale international conferences than any other medium in China.China daily's special status makes the accuracy and readability of translated texts published in it reach higher requirements,and established its' authority in this field.The essay gives some cases concerning neologisms and hot words' translation from China Daily published in recent two years(2016 and 2017).They are divided into three categories,such as media neologisms and hot words with Chinese characteristic,loan media neologisms and hot words as well as media neologisms and hot words forming abbreviation.And then the essay analyzes them in the prospect of eco-translatology's selective adaptation,and puts forward three main strategies:to adapt the source text,to adaptation the reader and translators' selection.
