Neologism plays an important role in lexicological studies.Neologisms pervade every aspect of our daily life, including economy, politics, people’s livelihood, science and technology. Among the ChineseEnglish print press, China Daily is the most authoritative and influentialone. This thesis makes a case study of China Daily, choosing severaltypical Chinese Neologisms coined during the year2010to2014, andthen searches and concludes their English translation samples in relevantreports of China Daily. Finally, an Eco-translatology analysis on theEnglish translation of these neologisms will be done. This thesis combines the translation of Chinese Neologisms withEco-translatology theory, respectively employing two theories originatingfrom Eco-translatology: the “translator’s selection and adaptation to thetranslational the Eco-environment” theory and the three-dimensional(linguistics dimension, cultural dimension and communicative dimension)transformation theory, in order to explore the English translation of theChinese Neologisms in China Daily.Specifically speaking, it is explored in the comparative analysis ofChinese Neologisms, summing out the sameness and difference. So, theillustrations are based on Eco-translatology in this paper, which puts an application of Eco-translatology into a relatively new category. The significance of this study is to analyze the changes of thetranslations of Chinese Neologisms, summarize optimized translationmethods, and thus introduce China’s latest changes in a more proper way, bridging to strengthen the mutual-understanding and communicationbetween China and the outside world.
