Semantic transparency is the degree of infering the meaning of compound from morpheme meaning.It is between the end of last century and the beginning of this century that semantic transparency is studied connected with word meaning guessing and acquisition by researchist from domestic and overseas.So many research findings are still immaturity and should be further examined.Based on the previous studies about compound acquisition in second language,this study aims at researching the influence on overseas students to guess and acquisition word from semantic transparency,frequency,structure type and context information of the word and with the integrated closed questionnaire and open interviews.By using spss21 analyze survey data and then based on this the study states the process of the influence concisely.At last,this study attempts to offer many proposals to improve the quality and efficiency of the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.This study contains three sections,In section one,the semantic transparency,compound and the second language acquisition are explained and defined.And then the study reveals the relevant reserches' status comprehensively.The section two states the selecting of experimental material,the testee's condition and sorts,and analysises the data elementarily.The section three analyzes the survey data combined with above previous studies and theoretical knowledge,and the influence thatcompound semantic transparency,structure,pronunciation and character pattern and context information affectting learners' word meaning gussing and acquisition,and puts forward some useful advises.The section four summarizes this study.Through this study,the following conclusions can be drawn:(1)the high grade of transparency compound easier to be guessed compared with the low grade of transparency;(2)the coodinated structure compound easier to be guessed than the modification-center structure ones among the high grade of transparency compound;(3)the modification-center structure compound easier to be guessed than the coodinated structure ones;(4)the testee always tend to infering the meaning of compound from morpheme meaning;(5)the context information of the compound can be a great help to the testee to guess the word meaning.
