Throughout the contemporary movie circle,the development of Japanese movies has never withdrawn from the audience's sight.Kurosawa Akira,a great master of Japanese movies,passed away in 1998,which announces the finality of the great-master era of Japanese movies.Afterwards,Imamura Shohei passed away,and Nagisa Oshima was seriously ill.Japanese movies must march towards the beginning of a new era if they want to achieve better development.Since the 21 st century,Japanese movies have become increasingly open and liberal,and increasing importance has been attached to the directors' personalized development and the presentation of their talents.A group of young directors who were born in 1960 s and1970s have become the most active figures in the current movie circle in Japan,such as Hirokazu Koreeda,Shinji Aoyama and Naomi Kawase,etc.While cherishing the memory of the old times,these creators have also accepted new educational modes and life philosophies.Therefore,these young directors are more concerned about individuals' inner world than the elder generation.Thanks to them,the development of Japanese movies has demonstrated increasingly diversified characteristics.Because of his unique mode of expression,Hirokazu Koreeda has successfully attracted the attention from his peers and the audiences.Furthermore,he has also been considered as one of the representative figures of Japanese movie directors in the late 1990 s.Hirokazu Koreeda's movies focus on the survival of ordinary people in the contemporary Japanese society and invest sincere humanistic care to the most fundamental constituent parts in the society---individuals and family.Every detail of the daily life is slowly flowing in the language of his movies.Even if such grand subjects as “life” and “death” are discussed,he still depicts the ordinary life with his sincere and plain expression.Hirokazu Koreeda is a director with a strong sense of social responsibility.Although he could authentically demonstrate the ugly facts and cruelness of life,he refuses to present a passive and sluggish life.Instead of narrating a “story”,the director is more concerned about “people” in his movies,in which,the audience can perceive that although there are unavoidable sufferings in life,people are still willing to repair these emotional traumas with love.They have been learningto co-exist with pains and continue to march forward.Therefore,his works are also called “healing” movies by many fans.Hirokazu Koreeda's depiction of “trauma” and concern about “survival” helps the audience see how wonderful human feelings and humanity are.Although not all Hirokazu Koreeda's works are released in China,he is still supported by many Chinese fans.This director's influence can no longer be underestimated.Therefore,the style of his movies is discussed and analyzed,hoping to use his successful experience in art and commerce as a reference to enrich our own creation of movies.
