Zhu Xi's Honesty&Faith And Its Contemporary Value

The honesty has a very long history,its birth even can be traced back to the early human society.in the long river of Chinese cultural development,it is extremely importance to the study of the honesty for the Confucian school,and Zhu Xi's honesty thought is the most important representatives of them.Researching the sincere thoughts of zhu xi must return back to the Southern Song dynasty.The Song dynasty was a peak of the development of Chinese feudal era,and politics,economy,culture,science and technology had made unprecedented achievements,superadding the fighting and the population migrating,all kinds of culture mixed together.The young Zhu Xi wavered between Buddhism and Confucianism,but in the end he chose the Confucianism,and through the study of Confucian classics,he inherited and developed the Confucianism,and formed a unique system of neo-confucianism,which contains abundant thoughts of honesty.Zhu Xi interpreted honesty as “true”,interpreted the “of honesty”as “is not true but pursuit the true”,then interpreted the “of honesty ”as “faith”,which was “the way of human”.The honesty is real state of heavenly principles,and the faith is the activity of human pursuit of the honesty;the honesty is in all things,but the faith is the use of the honesty in human society;the honest always passively expresses itself in the nature,the faith is the honesty actively pursuit itself in human society;the honesty is a saint,ordinary people pursuit the saint through the faith.From the above discussion,we find that to understand Zhu Xi's honesty,needs to be done in the honesty with spares and integration.To spare is in order to better integrate,and to integrate is in order to better guide the life of people.At the same time,Zhu Xi's honesty also cannot leave the Zhu Xi's neo-confucianism,because the honesty thoughts is embodied in heavenly principles,human's appetite,and the respect and so on,leaving their support the thought of Zhu Xi's honesty wouldn't exist.Because the idealism color of Zhu Xi's neo-confucianism and the change of the times,a lot of content of Zhu Xi's honesty is inappropriate,but its value is still cannot be ignored.For the socialist market economy,Zhu Xi's honesty tell us "honesty is not only a code of ethics,but also the market economy are able to become one of the reasons for the market economy".For socialist political,Zhu Xi's honesty provides a positive reference for the construction of the honesty government--knowing honesty,that is clearing the government responsibility in the society;thinking honesty,that is,government agencies or government employees must always be in the related system strictly;doing in honesty,that is implement the responsibility of the government.For the socialist society,Zhu Xi's honesty thought provides a rich thought resources for the construction of the society.For socialist core values,Zhu Xi's honesty remind us through education and learning the honesty is gained.
