Factors Of Listening Comprehension Barriers In Consecutive Interpretation And Its Coping Strategies

Listening comprehension is the first step of consecutive interpretation.However,any barrier arises from it may render essential influence on following interpretation process.Interpreter's duty on fully conveying speaker's intention may be substantially compromised as well.While interpreters train themselves diligently on listening comprehension skills,barriers can still be unavoidable.Comprehensive preparation for responding to listening comprehension barriers is needed.This thesis studies a model conference interpretation case,analyses and summaries factors that lead to listening comprehension barriers.It also gives suggestions to interpreters when barriers arise.It is well expected that the study may help interpreters to improve listening comprehension skills and to prepare for possible listening comprehension barriers.
