Technical Communication And Translation—Analysis On The Usage Of Technical Writing Features In E-C Practical Translation

As an important technical exchange medium between China and the West,translation plays a vital role in the development of science and technology. However,due to the lack of mature standard system in practical translation, especially in English and Chinese technical translation, the introduction of wording systems in relevant fields thus is of great significance. This thesis introduces the concept of Technical Writing in the foreign field of Technology Communication, analyzes the mature and standardized system and characteristics of Technical Writing, and applies it to practical English-Chinese translation. By illustrating in the technical translation,this thesis will give a conclusion in the significance of the application.Since the second half of the 20th century, China has been witnessing rapid development in society, economy, politics, technology and gaining a far greater say in the world stage. The soaring of information exchange needs accelerates the fast-speed growth in the translation industry, and brings about some problems as well. Among all the problems, thanks to the necessity of scientific advance, practical translation has experienced an increasing importance, calling for higher demands for the translator's language and writing skills. However, currently there is no wording principles for Chinse practical texts, therefore, to perfectly realize the goal of communication while paying attention to both the languages is indeed a challenging work.With foreign expertise continuously pouring into China, Technical Communication, a mode of information transit, came into existence. As a translation major, the author was lucky to have a chance to learn Technical Communication courses organized by NC State University and Nanjing Normal University. By learning courses,the author found that Technical Writing is a key subject in technical communication and covers many styles of texts. Currently,foreign Technical Writing norms and standards are relatively stable and mature in each of the text style. If we can explore the essence and characteristics of Technical Writing and adapt it to the practical translation in China,the author believes this will surely bring considerable referential meanings for the latter.In this thesis, the author will analyze the standards and features of Technical Writing and illustrate the referential importance of its application in practical text translation and the thesis can lay an elementary foundation for future widespread application.
