With the increasing number of exchanges between China and Sri Lanka. more Sri Lankans choose to learn Chinese. As there is lack of opportunities to study Chinese in China, they choose to study in Sri Lanka. where the university is a major place to learn Chinese.At present, the University of Kelaniya is one of the major place teaching Chinese language in Sri Lanka. Therefore, this paper takes Kelaniya University as an example to summarize the characteristics of Chinese teaching methods. Data was collected through the questionnaire survey, and by interviews. The practice of class methods to carry out the analysis. We found many problems in teaching, and introduced some suggestions. The study mainly divided into six parts.In order to solve these problems and find a more appropriate and more suitable method for Chinese teaching, to improve learning enthusiasm and learning efficiency.The first chapter introduces the purpose and significance of this paper and the research methods. The author uses the relevant literature, through reading the relevant works and papers, newspapers and magazines, the characteristics of Chinese teaching methods to sort out the summary.The second chapter introduces the current situation of Chinese teaching in Sri Lanka and University of Kelaniya. Including junior high school, high school Chinese teaching, as well as the Chinese teaching of Confucius Institute.Chapter 3 analyzes the current situation of Chinese teaching in University of Kelaniya.Mainly based on the second-year students of the University. Among them, mainly with the discussion of Chinese professional lesson situation, teachers, teaching materials, students,examinations. teaching methods.Chapter 4 carries on the investigation and analysis. Mainly based on the data collection by questionnaires, the reasons for learning Chinese, students interest on learning Chinese,teacher attitude and several aspects.In the fifth chapter, based on the discussion of the previous parts, the author analyzes the problems and suggestions of Chinese classroom teaching in University of Kelaniya in order to expect better teaching achievement. The last chapter is the conclusion, summed up the main content of the full text.
