| Currently,with the rapid development of economy and increasingly frequent business contacts between China and other countries,more and more imported products have entered the Chinese market,resulting in a large demand for translation of installation instructions.The installation instructions,which demonstrate the textual characteristics of sci-tech text and practical style,are closely related to the product characteristics,serving the real life,and they are of certain practical significance as well as commercial value.Thus,the quality of its translation will affect the effect of installation and function of products and even the corporate image.This report is a translation practice report of instructions for installing PLEXIGLAS? products.The installation instruction is aimed at guiding users to install and use specific sheets correctly.Guided by Skopos theory,the paper analyzes and summarizes the difficulties in translating this installation instruction from the lexical and syntactic aspects,and applies three rules of Skopos theory to resolve the difficulties encountered in translation,including word order adjustment,translation of passive voice,lexical cohesion,the consistency of discourse style and the use of four-character words.The purpose of analyzing these difficulties is to try to convey the accurate information of ST;to ensure the professionalism,objectivity and logic of TT for installation instruction;to achieve the consistency of the style in TT and ST;to realize the intended purpose of TT in the TL environment ultimately.Through this practice,the translator hopes to further explore the value of Skopos theory in the translation process of installation instruction,in an attempt to provide some reference for other translators researching the translation of installation instruction or other practical text translations. |
