In the context of globalization and localization,China increases cultural exchange with foreign countries.High on the list of the state's priorities,the publicity work and the translation of publicity materials occupy a strategic position.And the publicity of political document,an important information provider for the outside world to know China's politics,plays a vital role.This report reviews the author's operating procedures and considerations in translating part of the book Marxism and Socialism with Chinese Characteristics from Chinese to English.In recent years,the research on publicity-oriented translation includes perspectives like Nida's dynamic and functional equivalence,skopos theory,translator's subjectivity,eco-translatology,relevance theory,manipulation theory by Andre Lefevere,Functionalist approaches,and Peter Newmark's translation theories.Considering the complexity of translation activity,the author learns from Nida's four-step procedure,Nord's function-plus-loyalty model,Wilss' s four dimensions,Heng Xiaojun's three-step quality assessment model and other valuable views,hoping to clarify the process of publicity-oriented translation with a flow chart of her own.This report helps the author further understand the textual features of publicity materials,the rendering's typical mistakes and strategies.Following a basic procedure,the author aims to provide some references for translation students and translators of political documents. |
