| Nowadays, mankind encounters constant challenges from energy shortage, environmental pollution and climate change. Changing energy production and consumption patterns, promoting technology and institution innovation as well as enhancing international exchanges and cooperation have become the top priority in the energy sector. Clean energy development and energy use with high efficiency have become an important way to achieve energy reforms. This translation practice has selected a report, Wind Vision: A New Era for Wind Power in the United States, from the U.S. Department of Energy as its source text. The Wind Vision has conducted a comprehensive analysis to evaluate future pathways for the wind industry. It has quantified the costs, benefits, and other impacts associated with continued growth of U.S. wind power and provided an action roadmap for stakeholders to support wind power growth. This report has explored the potential pathways for wind power, offering the United States, even the whole world an example of wind power deployment. The executive summary of this report has summarized the key chapter findings, which is favorable to grasping the report skeleton and understanding the core point of view. Its content is logical and rigorous with logical analysis featuring prominently in translation. So this paper has chosen its translation to analyze. This paper comprises four chapters. The first one briefly introduces the background, translator arrangement, selected text, practical meaning of the translation project and so on. The second part records the translation process, including early preparation of knowledge and tools, translation arrangement and post-translation revision. Chapter three solves translation problems with the assistance of logical analysis mainly. Basic concepts of logic are clarified at first, including thinking forms, logic laws and so on. Then some specific translation issues at the levels of vocabulary, sentence and text are solved through logical analysis. Those issues usually cannot be well handled through meaning identification and grammar analysis only, and logical analysis provides a supplementary solution. The last one summarizes the experience and lessons in the translation process, especially in the process to deal with logic problems. |
