The Effect Of Direction Similarity On Visual Working Memory Process With Different Cognitive Styles

Our study selected the change of working memory paradigmand select object-style and spatial-style of college students as the study subject,in order to study the effect of direction similarity on the representation of individual visual working memory in different cognitive ways with black arrows as experimental materials.My study has three experiments.In the experiment 1,we study the differences of storage characteristics of direction similarity in time,to explore the mechanism of similarity positive effect and the trend of similarity with time.to prove the resason of the similarity of the positive effect is due to similarity reduces information load.In experiment 2,we study the direction similarity between coding and extraction of working memory task to explore the effect of direction similarity on the representation of object-style and spatial-type individual visual working memory,and to provide evidences for the generation mechanism of similarity positive effect.In experiment 3,ERP technique was used to analyze whether there were differences in the amplitude of SP induced by object-type and spatial-type subjects in different direction similarity tasks,so as to analyze the input of cognitive resources and provide direct evidence for the mechanism of the similarity positive effect.In summary,the following conclusions are obtained.(1)The working memory representation of objects with different direction similarity in different cognitive styles have differences.The results of spatial-style subjects is better than the results of object-style subjects for the dissimilar spatial tasks,while the results of object-style and spatial-style subjects are not different for the similar spatial tasks(2)Thecoding stage of working memory have posite similarity effect,while the have negative similarity effect,and similarity in coding stage can adjust similarity effect in extraction phase,When the task direction is similar in the extraction phase,the representation of the object-style is similar to that of the coding phase in the direction of the coding phase,while the spatial-style has no difference in the representation of the different tasks in the direction of the coding phase.(3)There are differences in the brain mechanisms of working memory representation of objects with different direction similarities in different cognitive styles.At the early stage of the maintenance phase,the activation intensity of the object-style individuals in the prefrontal region for the dissimilar direction tasks was significantly higher than that of the similar directiontasks,but spatial-style individuals have not differences of activation intensity in the different similarity direction tasks.
