Traditionally, researchers held the opinion that after interpersonal rejection, individuals would feel anxiety or anger.Initially, researches primarily focused on the anxious expectations of rejection and withdrawal behavior, then researchers defined Rejection Sensitivity(RS)as the disposition to anxiously expect, readily perceive and intensely react to rejection.Afterwards, researchers extended the RS model and added the anger expectations of rejection, revenge and aggression behavior into RS model.Recently, with the rapid development of positive psychology, researchers gradually focused on the positive prosocial behavior after interpersonal rejection, such as forgiveness. So,the current study aimed to explore the relationship between the types of RS and forgiveness among college students. The current study focused on four types of RS,they were low anxiety and low angry RS,low anxiety and high angry RS,high anxiety and low angry RS and high anxiety and high angry RS.From attribution and interpersonal rejection two perspectives, the relationship between the types of RS and forgiveness was explored through three studies.Study 1,the relationship between four types of RS and forgiveness was primarily explored by using questionnaire method.Study 2,by using questionnaire method, attribution's mediation role in the relationship between four types of RS and revenge was verified, also attribution's mediation role in the relationship between four types of RS and avoidance was verified.Study3 explored whether the different interpersonal rejection types(different interpersonal intimacy and interpersonal reciprocity)had impact on the relationship between different types of RS and forgiveness,by conducting two experiments. The main conclusions of the current study were as follows:1)There were significant differences between different types of RS individual's forgiveness.2)Setting the high anxiety and high angry RS as reference group, attribution mediated the relationship between low anxiety and low angry RS,low anxiety and high angry RS,high anxiety and low angry RS with revenge, also attribution mediated the relationship between low anxiety and low angry RS,low anxiety and high angry RS,high anxiety and low angry RS with avoidance.3)After interpersonal rejection,RS individual's avoidance motivation increased significantly, revengemotivation changed non-significantly.Compared with the revenge and avoidance motivation of being rejected by low interpersonal intimacy friends,in the face of high interpersonal intimacy friends' rejection, high angry RS(low anxiety and high angry RS,high anxiety and high angry RS)individual's revenge motivation declined significantly and high anxiety RS(high anxiety and low angry RS,high anxiety and high angry RS)individual's avoidance motivation declined significantly.Compared with the revenge and avoidance motivation of being rejected by non-reciprocal friends,in the face of reciprocal friends' rejection, high angry RS individual's revenge motivation declined significantly and high anxiety RS individual's avoidance motivation increased significantly.Interpersonal intimacy and interpersonal reciprocity affected the low anger RS and low anxiety RS individual's revenge and avoidance motivation non-significantly.
