Simulated simultaneous interpreting(SSI)practice is an innovative and useful teaching method for simultaneous interpreting(SI)training.It provides a platform for students to improve their simultaneous interpreting competence and enhance interpersonal communication skills.This report records a SSI task of the famous scholar and economist Larry H.P.Lang's commencement speech at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.The practice process has been audio recorded and transcribed into texts.All these recorded materials are used to write a SSI practical report,documenting in detail the task introduction and preparation.Then,interpreting problems during the SSI process are classified and analyzed to get corresponding interpreting strategies in light of deverbalization,which is the highlight of this practice report.In the end,the author concludes the enlightenment from this SSI task in order to improve the interpreting competence and prefect the interpreting task in the future.This SSI report embodies the importance and necessity of the deverbalization.During the SSI process,the interpreter needs to strengthen the understanding of the source language and get rid of the constraints of it as much as possible so as to enhance her capability of information restructuring and innovative expressing.
