Since the development of the globalization increased the frequency of the economic and cultural communication between countries, simultaneous interpreting has become one of the most popular forms of interpretation.Simulated simultaneous interpreting practice is an important way for interpreting learners to improve their practical interpreting ability,to accumulate their interpreting experience and to find their own strength and weakness. This report is about an English-Chinese simulated simultaneous interpreting practice based on the speech given by Muhammad Yunus at Australian Griffith University in 2017.Muhammad Yunus' speeches are mostly spoken with a Bengali accent and the language phenomenon of redundancy, slips of the tongue, corrections, etc. The topic of this speech is Three Zeros, namely Zero-poverty.Zero-unemployment and Zero-carbon emission. In describing the task process, the report focuses on the Pre-interpretation preparation,in which the accent-related preparation is carried out in view of the speaker's accent in addition to collecting background information and preparing glossary before interpreting. In the chapter of Case study, combined with Gile's Effort Models, the report exemplifies the simultaneous interpreting skills including segmentation, ellipsis, anticipation and combination which are used to cope with difficulties encountered in the interpreting practice,to allocate appropriately the interpreter's efforts and to make the target language more in line with the habitual combinations of words such as were shared by the language community. And the report also analyses the causes of omissions, errors and poor expression in the process of the practice.Through the practice and analysis,it is found that the accent of the source language speakers can bring different degrees of difficulty to interpreters. Therefore the interpreters should make good preparation for the speakers' accent before interpreting. On the basis of Gile's Effort Models, some corresponding coping skills are recommended to effectively allocate the interpreters' efforts,to ensure the smooth progress and to improve the effectiveness of simultaneous interpreting. The interpreting learners should further the study of interpreting theories and master some skills in order to lay a good foundation for future interpreting work.
