Lin Yutang's Ecological Aesthetics Thought

The concept of ecological aesthetics is proposed by the Chinese scholars who learn from the relevant theories of western environmental aesthetics in the 1990 s.It tries to solve the conflict between man and nature?man and others?people and their own conflicts,and to achieve harmony and balance in many aspects.Through the continuous exploration and research,many ecological scholars found that related works contains rich ecological wisdom resources written by modern writers in the20 th century,and advocated to absorb nutrition and wisdom from the Chinese nation's outstanding cultural heritage,to develop and improve the connotation of the contemporary ecological aesthetic theory.As a great literary master of the 20 th century,Lin Yutang has a unique view of Chinese and Western culture.The ecological view of nature,outlook on life,and social and culture outlook which are established by Lin Yutang are in favor of changing our inherent way of thinking and behavior,and achieving the overall unity and harmony.Some scholars have worked on mining,sorting and summing up Lin Yutang's ecological aesthetic,but there still be much researchable space in breadth and depth.Based on the connotation and cultural origin of Lin Yutang 's ecological aesthetics,this paper tries to explain Lin Yutang' s ecological aesthetic thought in a comprehensive and profound way,in order to find out the useful contemporary value in the thought,and to response positively to the general concerned ecological problem of the society.This paper is divided into three parts: the first part mainly introduces the emergence of Lin Yutang's ecological aesthetics thought,and discusses the transition from the enlightenment modernity to the aesthetic modernity,from humanism to ecologicalism.The second part mainly explains the connotation of Lin Yutang's ecological aesthetics thought,which inculdes Lin Yutang's the spirit of pursuit into nature,the aesthetic pursuit of the true spirit,and Chinese and Western fusion of cultural feelings.The third part mainly introduces the cultural origin of Lin Yutang 's ecological aesthetic thought.His ecological aesthetic thought absorbed the ecological concept of Christian culture "equality and fraternity" and borrowed the ecological resources of Taoist culture "Taoism follows nature",and learned the ecological wisdom of Confucian culture "golden mean".
