On Practice came into being not only because it is the result of philosophy speculations of pure theory, but also an effective response to solve the actual problems in Chinese revolutionary practice. In the process of writing,Mao Zedong solved the practical and theoretical problems in a down-to-earth way.He managed to combine Marxism with Chinese revolutionary practice, and the blend Marxism with traditional Chinese culture.By studying the historical process in which the epistemology of Mao Zedong's On Practice was formed in a systematical and comprehensive way,and objectively presenting the Chinization of Marxist philosophy by Mao Zedong in the historical process in which theory and practice integrated, connected and developed, and thoughts and theories also underwent the same procedure of integration, connection, and development,we can see that the study is of great significance of enlightenment for us to further promote Chinized Marxism. The discourse of this paper is presented in four sections. In the first section, the author sorts out the formation, development, and formation of the relation between knowing and doing in traditional Chinese philosophy, and elaborates its content, function and meaning in detail, especially the main ideas of Cheng and Zhu's Neo-Confucianism represented by Cheng Yi and Zhu Xi as well as Lu-Wang theory of mind represented by Lu Jiuyuan and Wang Yangming about the relation between knowing and doing, which prevailed in the period of Confucian school of idealist philosophy of the Song and Ming Dynasties. In the second section, the author first introduces the origin, inheritance and major features of Huxiang School by describing its formation and development.Secondly, the author focuses on introducing the cognition of major Huxiang culture representative figures in different periods about the relation between knowing and doing. Finally, the author introduces the major representative figures who came after Wang Chuanshan in modern times and had enormous influence on the course of Chinese history. They manifested the true spirit of humanistic pragmatism of Huxiang culture in the aspect of both argumentation and contribution. In the third section, the author first introduces the study of Mao Zedong on traditional Chinese culture in his adolescence, which laid a solid cultural foundation for his study of Chinese ancient civilization.Secondly, the author focuses on sorting out Mao Zedong's active study of traditional Chinese culture and west ideology and culture as well as his act of drawing lessons from the latter after Mao Zedong was admitted to Hunan First Normal University where the atmosphere of Huxiang culture was strong. In the process,Mao Zedong was instructed by his teacher Yang Changji who devoted all his attention, and he was greatly influenced by Huxiang culture that Yang Changji actively advocated, and gradually his ambition of saving the country and the people was formed. He developed the learning attitude of learning in order to practice, and cultivated the true spirit of seeking truth from facts.Under the influence of humanistic pragmatism, the style of Huxiang School,he started his initial social practice. He not only had certain cognition of the relation between knowing and doing, but also actively practiced what he learned, and formed a distinct mode of pursuing the truth of knowing and doing. He not only comprehended the problems of relation between knowing and doing in reality and improved his cognition step by step, but also manifested his cognition in practice. And then after he graduated from Hunan First Normal University,he studied the practical problems of Chinese revolution, and transferred to be a professional revolutionary quickly. In order to explore the outlet to save China from subjugation and ensure its survival,he absorbed various new ideas and thoughts at that time.He compared them theoretically, and then tested them in practice. Finally,in the process of solving the practical problems of Chinese revolution,he chose Marxism, and amended and developed the relation between knowing and doing with the philosophical view of Marxism, thus forming his own mature epistemological thoughts. In the fourth section, the author elaborates the significance of On Practice as a normal form in the Chinization process of Marxism epistemology. The Chinized Marxism not only enriches and develops the theories of Marxism, but also inherits, reforms and innovates traditional Chinese culture.
