Analysis And Comparison Of Beast Animal Idioms Between Chinese And Thai

With the development of Chinese economy, nowadays, China has become one of the most powerful countries in Asia. Meanwhile, Chinese langurage gets long-term development in other countries. In Thailand, Chinese is well received among the Thai people. Although the Thai people make great efforts to learn the Chinese language, it is not easy to fulfill the goal as Chinese culture is contained in the Chinese language, such as Chinese idioms.Most of the Chinese idioms and Thai idioms are originated from the folk, possessing rich cultural background and ethnic customs. If we want to learn a foreign language, we must understand the cultural background of the language. All the time, Chinese people immigrant to Thailand and they are referred to as "foreign citizen of Chinese origin", and their culture gradually affected the Thai folk culture. In Thai idioms, there are some language from people of Chinese origin, such as:"(?)((?))", in quotation marks"(?)" is translated into Chinese as "pig" to refer metaphoricallyred to stupid people. So the Thai idioms do not only imply Thailand national language and culture, but also implied other immigrants' national language and culture. China and Thailand both have a long history, and the two countries are different in the natural environment, customs, etc, so the idioms of the two countries will also be different. Animal plays an important role in China and Thailand, while the difference in cultural background, ways of thinking caused the distinct understanding as to animals and the beast animal idioms. This thesis makes analysis and comparison to beast animal idioms between Chinese and Thai, and the main research content is divided in five parts.The first chapter made an introduction to the present situation of the beast animal idioms in Chinese and Thai,explains the reason for this topic, and describes the research content, research purpose, research methods and corpus sources.The second chapter mainly introduced the definition, sorce, classification and cultural connotation of Chinese beast animal idioms.The third chapter mainly introduced the definition, sorce, classification and cultural connotation of Chinese beast animal idioms.The fourth chapter mainly made a comparison of the types and cultural connocation of beast animal idioms between Chinese and Thai.The fifth chapter mainly compared the semantic corresponding relation of beast animal idioms between Chinese and Thai.Conclusion part made a summary of the analysis and comparison of beast animal idioms in China and Thailand.The author hopes that this research can help learners in Thailand have a better understanding of the cultural difference, language difference as to beast animal idioms,and to make it easier for learners to master Chinese idioms.
