Reading is an indispensable part of many children's daily life. To enrich children's reading experiences, translators often introduce works of children's literature from outside of the country into the Chinese market. However, the translation of those works has different requirements from that of adult literature. For example, one basic requirement of children's literature translation is that it should be child-oriented.The thesis is composed of five chapters. Chapter One is about the significance, the objective and the possible contribution of the study and the thesis structure. In Chapter Two, the definition of children's literature and its rise in China are examined. In addition, the linguistic and aesthetic features of children's literature are discussed and the relation between texts and illustrations are studied. Chapter Three is a review of methods and thoughts on children's literature translation in China. Chapter Four is a case study. In this chapter, nine Chinese versions of The Little Prince are examined and six child readers'characteristics and translation principles are analyzed. Finally, Chapter Five presents the conclusion and suggestions. In this part, the author summarizes the thesis and gives suggestions to the translators of children's literature and for further studies in the field.
