In his masterpiece The World Is Flat,Thomas Friedman says that the world has been flattened by new technology and international capital at present. In today's information age, information technology has been influencing all translation activities, which has shown greater demands for translation work in various fields and formats of source texts, more cooperative translation project, but shorter time period for completion of translation tasks(Fang Mengzhi,2015).In today's industrialization featuring efficiency,computer-aided translation(CAT)is playing an increasingly prominent role in translation practice, which has been attracting increasing attention in the academia of Translation Studies.By searching the CNKI with the subject term of "computer-aided translation" or "CAT",35,560 related papers are presented in China Academic Journal Network Publishing Database, and 76,744 theses in China Master's Theses Full-text Database. However, further search with the subject term of"proofreading" or "check" or "quality control",only a few papers present can be referred to.Based on CAT technology, this thesis describes how to utilize CAT to proofread the Chinese translation of H.B.Fuller Company Workplace Injury&Illness Prevention Program Global Teplate in detail in accordance with professional standards and the process specification of project operation. Also,it introduces ways to improve the efficiency and quality of translation. The paper consists of four chapters.Chapter One is an introduction to the Internship Company and to the project of proofreading the Chinese translation of H.B.Fuller Company Workplace Injury&Illness Prevention Program Global Template which is the safe operation manual of H.B.Fuller Company stipulating in detail the safety caution and safety strategy of operation specification in all workplaces. The style of the text is characterized of repetitions of words, syntactic structures, sentences and even paragraphs, which call the consistency of the whole translation to more important requirements.Chapter Two is a brief review of computer-aided translation, which includes the brief history of CAT development and its theory and the functions of CAT softwares in practice.Chapter Three is the major part of this thesis presenting the application of the CAT softwares in the process of proofreading translated texts. It includes conversion of original text's format before revising, ways to transform the original text and translated text into the tmx format which can be identified by CAT softwares, and detailed processes of using the softwares of "Snow CAT" and "SDL Trados" to proofread the translation, and in the end, comparing the CAT softwares proofreading and traditional manual proofreading. It is obvious that proofreading by CAT softwares is superior to the traditional way.Besides, comparison is made of "Snow CAT" and "SDL Trados" in translation proofreading so as to see their respective advantages and disadvantages.Chapter Four is the summary of the present thesis. It points out the superiority of translation proofreading using the CAT software. The translation memories created during this process can help translators or translation companies re-use their language assets. This part ends with a reminding that, although CAT significantly increases the efficiency and effect of translation proofreading, the human proofreader is still responsible for the quality of the finished product of proofreading.
