The rapid development of economic globalization and the continuous advancement of China's reform and opening up drive have promoted the leap-forward development of China's translation industry. The domestic translation research industry has been flourishing. In the last ten years,as people's attention to the ecological environment has increased and the sustainable development strategy has been proposed, the translation community has begun to explore the ecological environment of translation studies. Then came the translation ecology.“Translation ecology is a comprehensive study of the ecological environment of translation from the perspective of ecology. It is the mechanism and law that study the interaction between translation and the surrounding ecological environment.Specifically,it is the introduction of ecological research results to translation studies, and the connection of translation and its ecological environment. It conduct in-depth research on the interrelationships and mechanisms of translation and its ecological environment. It examines and researches translation from the perspective of ecology, and seeks to analyze and explain various phenomena in translation.”Since entering the 21 st century,China has conducted deeper economic, cultural, political, military, and educational exchanges with other countries in the world. The translation market continues to expand. However, the number of translators is limited, and human translation is inefficient and costly.Pure human translation cannot satisfy the huge translation market.Fortunately, computer technology flourished and computer-aided translation(CAT)came into being.Computer-aided translation can help translators complete translation work efficiently and quickly. Most of the previous studies on computer-aided translation are about reports on using the software, and there are very few papers that have comprehensively studied it from the theoretical perspective. This article will systematically analyze the ecological environment of computer-aided translation from the perspective of the emerging disciplines-translation ecology, and study the social and natural environments in which computer-aided translation software lie in the process ofsoftware development and evolution. Two typical software(SDL-Trados Studio2014 and www.jeemaa.com)are compared, guided by several basic principles of translation ecology(ie,translation rhythm, law of restricted factors, edge effect, and flowerpots effect). The purpose is to explore the insufficiencies of software and provide some suggestions for the improvement and innovation of software in the future.Hope it can broaden the breadth and depth of the study on translation ecology and the application of translation practice. The novelty of this research lies in: On the one hand, the theory of translation ecology is used to guide the research of computer-aided translation software, and a new approach is proposed for the research of computer-aided translation software;on the other hand, several important principles of translation ecology are significant for the future study of the computer-aided translation.
