This report introduces the application of computer-aided translation softwarerepresented by memoQ to non-literary translation. Nowadays, with the developmentof economy and the progress in technology, exchanges between China and othercountries are so intensified that a large number of non-literary works have beenintroduced into the Chinese book market. Translation takes an importantresponsibility to promote communication and understanding during this process. Dueto rapid growth of the number of non-literary works, people also have higher demandson the accuracy and effectiveness of translation, so conventional human translationapproaches are unable to meet these increasing needs. Facing this situation,computer-aided translation software comes into being. They have reduced translators’workload greatly and improved the accuracy and effectiveness of translation. Basedon my own translation practice in Jamaica, this report analyzed the characteristics ofmemoQ and researched intensively the functions of computer-aided translationsoftware applied into non-literary translation.
