As we entered the 21st century, the communication between the east and west has become increasingly frequent with the advancement of globalization. The world is looking forward to getting a better understanding of China, at the same time,China is expected to be play a necessary role in the world arena. Additionally, the cultural communication is playing an indispensable part in the international intercourse. It is well known that Chinese cuisine has become a significant part of the traditional Chinese culture. Not only can the Chinese dishes embody the affluent history and culture, but also a great number of foreign friends are keen on fully understanding China by their favorite Chinese food. In 2012, a documentary named A Bite of China caught the eyes of the world and quickly swept across every corner of China. After all, food will be a hot topic anytime. Although the documentary is aimed at Chinese cuisine, the traditional culture hiding behind it is more likely to draw the foreigners' attention. Hence, our interpreters should assume the important responsibility for conveying the cultural information to the world in a proper way to the world. What is translation? Translation is a types kind of language activity that the key information of the source language is converted into that of the target language in a proper way. The translation activities cover a wide field. There is translation and interpretation in terms of its work styles. These two forms are utilized to transpose the source language into the target language, but there remains to be a load of differences between them in general., overall, the translators can work in some quiet places such as the libraries, reference rooms, offices and so on, what's more, the translators are almost free from the limitation of time. They can make full use of time to search for relevant files, ask the professionals for help and modify the translation texts.All that can be done to achieve the best effect of the translation. While in the process of interpretation, the interpreter frequently work in the public places in most cases, for example, the auditoriums. They must interpret directly in front of the audience, which causes tremendous pressure to them. In addition, the interpreter must interpret the material in accordance with the speaking speed of the speaker. The process of interpretation is greatly limited by the time. As a result, taking the documentary of A Bite of China for example, the author compares her own sight translation practice report with the official text of BBC to find out the differences between them and uses the proper methods to improve the quality of the interpretation text. We can look for the objective laws of the sight translation from the source of basic translation theories. The research and practice of the interpretation theories can be strengthened through a great number of sight translation training so as to lay a solid foundation for cultivating the outstanding interpreters in the future.
