A Report On Sight Interpreting Practice Of The Documentary China Wild:(?)ocean(?)forest

This report is based on sight interpreting practice of Chinese-English under the guidance of the translator's subjectivity theory for ecological documentary.The material is chosen from the series of publicity documentary CHINA WILD by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee:(I)Ocean and(II)Forest,touching upon China's marine and forest ecosystem.The chosen episode demonstrates its audience splendid Chinese natural ecology and covers marine and forest environment,the method of human beings getting along with nature and their efforts.The characteristics of this practice include intensive preparation,high professionalism,unpredictability,different speech rate and rhythm,etc.Based on the theoretical guidance of translator's subjectivity,this paper details case analysis on mock sight interpreting of ecological documentary.This report consists of four parts: task description is about the materials and practical significance;the interpreting process description includes documentary background,ecological glossary,process preparation and interpreting summary;the third part introduces concepts and viewpoints of translator's subjectivity and relating the case analysis;and the conclusion part expounds some introspective problems and lessons drawn form interpreting experience.Through case analysis,this report puts forward some suggestions to improve interpretation and combines translation strategies with conversion,sentence recombination,addition,subtraction and inversion and the factors in the aforesaid theory as “initiative”,“passivity”,“self-benefiting” and “self-reliance”.The interpreter attains novel insight and consideration of sight interpreting,which meanwhile guides own improvement and enhances the awareness of deep understanding and protection of the earth's ecology,hoping to provide experience for documentary interpreting learners.
