All teaching activities are based on teaching materials,which is also the source of acquiring knowledge and skills for students.Teaching materials plays a key role in teaching Chinese to foreigners.The scientific and rationality of teaching materials directly affect the efficiency and result of teaching activities,especially in the initial stage of teaching Chinese to foreigners.I choose “Learn Chinese with Me”(Elementary)and “Contemporary Chinese”(Elementary)as the research objects in this thesis as these books has been chosen as Teaching Chinese books in Turkish Ministry of Education to be used in Turkish High Schools.Hopefully both excellence and deficiency of these two textbooks can be found out through comparison and analysis,which would provide some advice for Chinese teaching and textbook improvement.This thesis consists of five parts:the first part introduces research objects,the background and significance of this research and some related studies.The second part introduces two books’ principles and styles.The third part emphasizes on overall structures of these two textbooks.The forth part is about the Users survey who are the teachers and the students,and the analyze of the survey results and gives some advice about improving the compilation of Chinese teaching materials and choosing best teaching methods is also given in this part.The last part is conclusion,which summarizes all the comparisons and analysis above.Hope this thesis can reveal both similarity and differences between “Learn Chinese with me”(Elementary)and “Contemporary Chinese”(Elementary),as well as their advantages,shortcomings,and the importance of country specified book with suggestions which would improve choosing the most suitable Chinese teaching materials for Turkish high school students.
