Some Consideration In Teaching Chinese Words Neng (?) And Hui (?)

As the common verb,neng(?)and hui (?)both have the meaning of "be good at", so it's easy to create the confusion.Besides, as the the modal verb,misusage usually happen when they both represent "possibility".It's noted that some compound structure like nengchi (??)and huichi (??)should be analysed from perspective of grammar and semantic : when neng (?) and hui (?) are model verbs,the structure of neng V (?V)?hui V (?V) belongs to modifier-noun phrase which is under the structure of adverbial modifier. While as the common verb,the structure of neng V (?V) , hui V (?V) belongs to verb-object construction, and some of those construction have conceptualized.Moreover, they are almost considered to be the compound word.Thai students make errors in their learning and using process, which largely because they cannot distinguish the word class of those two words. Teachers should combine with the teaching practice to teach the students how to distinguish those two words.
