The material used in the translation practice report belongs to the financial English literature(hereinafter referred to as the finance literature). The financial English,a branch of scientific English, generally refers to the English that is used in the scientific books, theses, weekly magazines, textbooks and other literature works about finance, economics and international trade. With the rapid development of the economic globalization and international trade, the economic activities between countries have become increasingly frequent,so it is necessary to undertake the translation work about financial literature, and it presents new challenges and requirements to English researchers and translators. In the translation process,it is a hard job to translate financial terminology, especially to translate financial sentences, and the translation is a significantjob. This report consists of five chapters. In the first chapter, the author makes a brief introduction to the translation work, including a brief introduction to the main content of each of the articles I have translated, the background and the significance of the translation work, the principal characters of the finance literature and the analysis of the finance literature translation research status, thinking that the translation of financial literature is a new challenging task to English researchers and translators, and in consideration of its theoretical value or practical value, the study of the translation of the English translation has the research value,so it needs more translators to do the research about the translation of financial literature under the guidance of relevance theory. In the second chapter, the author presents the translation process that is divided into three parts:the translation tools---including Internet-aided translation and some Financial professional dictionaries, such as Reuter's Financial Glossary because it has lots of financial terminology and they always have fixed meaning;translation practice schedule, expecting it can help to finish the translation report on time;the proofreading of translated text----proofreading the translation aims at improving the translation and guaranteeing the quality of the translation, and it is also an important step to meet the criterion of translation. The proofreaders include the translator, some professionals in the field of finance and the translator's supervisor. In the third chapter, the report discusses the theory----Relevance Theory that has guided me in my translation.Relevance Theory,a new theory, plays an important part not only in the contemporary studies of Pragmatics, but also in the studies of translation. It deals with the Cognition and Psyche of the author, the translator and the reader, thus providing translations studies with both a new perspective of thinking and a practical way of evaluating translation.Relevance depends on two elements:processing efforts and contextual effects. What the hearer need is not maximal relevance but optimal relevance, which is not only the goal of the translator but also the principle and standard of translation studies.Once the optimal relevance is created in translation,a certain context will be decided. So the translator should try to search for the optimal relevance and create proper contextual effect during the translating process. In the translation process, the most important task of the translator is to find the optimal relevance between the original text and the target language reader and the translator's job is to try to make the author's intention consistent with the readers' expectation,at the same time it is unnecessary to let the reader make more effort to understand the translation. In a word, relevance theory has guided me in my translation, and according to the characteristics of financial literature, this report adopts the pragmatic approach to financial translation by combining theory with practice in the field. In the forth chapter, through analysis, the writer explains the specific problems encountered in the translation process----the professionalism of financial terminology,a lot of passive voice and long sentences, and the writer presents the ways to solve these translation difficulties respectively----at the syntactical level, the writer uses literal translation because financial terms must be translated accurately, complying with professional standards.Annotated translation is used to help the reader understand the meaning of terminology, and conversion of words is used.At the syntactical level,it is mainly devoted to expounding some methods in translating passive voice and long sentences, which is the great challenge for the author in the translating process.Passive voice is an obvious trait of English which is quite common in formal articles and can make expressions more objective. However,in Chinese, passive voice is not so common.According to grammatical points and expressing habits, sentences with passive voice are usually translated into active sentences with passive meanings.Literal translation of passive voice is only available in individual situations. As we all know, there are differences between English and Chinese financial texts.English is a hypotactic language while Chinese is a paratactic one. This distinction is a fundamental one in comparison between English and Chinese. As English holds hypotactic characteristics, complex and compound sentences are common in English, while those of Chinese are to the composite side.On the basis of the differences mentioned above, the report concludes that, the translator should first figure out the logic relationship of the original text in the translation of long English sentences, and then, according to the Chinese expression customs, the author discusses four translation methods, which are named“syntactic linearity","inverted-order translation","division","methods of synthesis".Explaining these methods in Financial translation and giving some relevant examples, finally I can get a faithful and smooth translated text. The last chapter, the author summarizes the translation experience.Of course, due to the limited knowledge and skills of the author, there must be many mistakes and improprieties in this report, and the author is ready for corrections. It is important for the translator be responsible for the original author and the reader of translation,so it requires the translator to constantly improve their professional accomplishment by hard work.
